Some Lessons I’ve Learned From Flowers

some lessons I’ve learned from flowers:

❊ you are unfolding just as you are meant to.

❊ everything happens exactly when it is supposed to happen.

❊ get out of your own way and let yourself bloom.

❊ you are unique and beautiful and no one else is exactly like you, so stop comparing yourself to others.

❊ when you pay close enough attention, you notice that you, and life, are always changing and evolving.

❊ you need to have strong and deep enough roots before you can sprout up and bloom into your full radiance and potential

I have fallen in love with flowers over these past few years. Well, and plants in general! I never used to be a flower-type girl, and I used to tell Ryan to NOT buy me flowers because I thought it was a waste of money. But now I realize how much joy and beauty they bring into our home and into my life. And now that we have a whole bunch of flower gardens around our new home, I’m having so much fun just poking around and seeing what is coming up during our first spring season here!

I also love to bring a flower into my meditative practice. I’ve learned so much from them this way. To gently fix my concentration on a single flower and focus on it and it alone for a few minutes of stillness. Notice it’s petals, color, stem, leaves, texture, scent, all the little details. Ask for guidance. Listen to what it has to tell me.

Nature is always whispering to us its lessons and its knowings.

Our minds are often too busy chattering to notice,

but when we quiet down,

there is so much said in the quiet,

in simply noticing and appreciating.
